New Jersey Family Engagement Hub
The New Jersey Family Engagement Hub (NJFEH) provides technical assistance (TA) and training to the New Jersey (NJ) State educational agency (SEA) and local educational agencies (LEAs), educators, administrators, family organizations, family leaders, families, and community-based organizations (CBO) in the implementation and enhancement of systemic and effective family engagement (FE) policies, programs, and activities that lead to improvements in student development and academic achievement.

Learn Strategies for Making Reading Time with Your Child Fun for You BothÂ
 Dates: November 3, 10, 17, 24Â

This fall program is aimed at parents of emergent and early readers (most relevant to parents of preschoolers through 1st graders). Participation is voluntary and will involve attendance at four weekly workshops to be held remotely. Space is limited, so please use the QR code to reserve your spot! Please note that these sessions are for adults only. Ask engaging questions when reading together, and play rhyming and word games. Identify letters and words, Praise effort, and stay calm when reading together.

Parents will learn strategies to help children be successful, motivated readers, including how to: The strategies that will be taught in the workshop have been found to improve young children’s reading skills and promote future reading success. Learning about these strategies may also help parents communicate with teachers more easily.

Interested parents who are not available at this time, or would prefer to attend sessions in a language other than English, can request to be added to a future workshop series by pre-registering and indicating their preferred times and language preferences. For more information, please email: booksmartreaders@gmail.com if you have additional questions. Once the workshop is full, all interested participants will be added to the waitlist for fall sessions.Â
